Stress exercise

Click on the play button to listen to the poem and then click, in the text, on the stressed syllables.
Stressed syllables are said with a lot of energy.

When you've found all the stressed syllables what do you notice? Answer.

When you've done both exercises (this one on stressed syllables and the one on the schwa) practice saying the Limerick aloud in time with the recording. Do not "repeat afterwards" as that brings in an element of memorisation, but speak at the same time so that your voice is naturally guided by the other voice - just as if you were learning to sing a song.

Thə wəs ə dy frəm gə,
Who fər ə on ə gə.
They came frəm thə
With thə dy in,
ən ə on thə əf thə gə .
